The Brevard County Manatees defeated the Daytona Tortugas, 6-1, at Space Coast Stadium. Leading the charge for Brevard County was second baseman Alfredo Fernández. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Ben Norman, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. The Manatees go to 15-39 with the win.
The Manatees got a big at-bat from third baseman Raúl Alarcon. For the game, Alarcon was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Brevard County a 2-1 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Daytona manager Tracy McGrady.
