Tampa beat St. Lucie on the strength of starting pitcher Pat Todd's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Todd got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The win has Tampa at 17-27.

Tampa used the timely hitting of Tony Tobías to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I got in a good groove," said Todd. "I was getting some swings and misses."
