Fort Myers starter Juan Garza kept the Daytona offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his slider in leading the Miracle to a 6-1 win. Garza, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. The defeat makes Daytona 16-11.

It could have been a different outcome for Fort Myers, had it not been for Pete Anderson, the 23-year old catcher . Anderson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Fort Myers up, 2-0.

Garza attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
