Daytona wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Ben Carpenter, falling to the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 3-2. Carpenter threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Lakeland pitcher Chuck Parsons earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. Ben Carpenter suffered the loss. José Cervantes stitched up the save, his 7th.

Mike Walker helped out the Lakeland cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 2.

Walker told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
