Spirited fans greeted the Palm Beach Cardinals for their clash with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
Behind a fine performance from Al Rhodes, the Charlotte Stone Crabs knocked off the Palm Beach Cardinals, 7-4. Rhodes went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs for the Stone Crabs. So far, the 2026 season has been disappointing for Palm Beach, now 6-9.
Charlotte used the hitting of Tim Rice to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Stone Crabs on top, 4-0. For the game, Rice had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Rice expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
