Jupiter Upended, 8-2, by Daytona
|
The Daytona Tortugas welcomed the Jupiter Hammerheads to an night game at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
The Daytona Tortugas picked up a win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, topping the Jupiter Hammerheads, 8-2. On the mound for Daytona was right-hander Doug Hayes. He played a principal role in the triumph. Hayes picked up the win for Daytona, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1.
Josh Anderson had a big 3-run home run for the Tortugas in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Daytona leading 3-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a slider from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ben Watson and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Tortugas on top, 6-1.
"Doug kept his poise and got the job done," said Daytona manager Mac Stewart. "He was outstanding."
The Tortugas raised their record to 7-4.
