Rays Take Tight Tilt, 2-1
|
The Chicago White Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Helmis Rodriguez, but the Tampa Bay Rays still won the game, 2-1. Rodriguez threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Kevin Murray picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-2. Picking up his 5th save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Montgomery.
Ismael Ramírez, who finished 3rd in the AL in triples with 8 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ramírez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Tampa Bay up, 2-1.
"We found a way to get it done," Ramírez said.
The loss puts Chicago at 7-10.
