Lakeland designated hitter Juan Martínez had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Palm Beach Cardinals, 7-4. Lakeland reliever Clemente Piccinini snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tony Houston shouldered the loss. With the loss, Palm Beach drops to 1-4.

Martínez had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Tony Houston, he banged a bases-clearing double to left, giving the Flying Tigers a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st double of the year for Martínez.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Martínez.
