The Carolina Mudcats dealt the Winston-Salem Dash a 4-3 loss at New Winston-Salem Ballpark. Shawn Simmons, who leads the CAR in total bases with 273, was the star on offense. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Johnny Wilson in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Steve Winters took the loss. José Jiménez recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 8 for 10.

Joe Powers had a direct impact on the outcome. Powers contributed a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put Carolina up, 3-0.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Winston-Salem skipper Brent Metheny, "and it cost us."
