The Potomac Nationals downed the Carolina Mudcats, 4-1, at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Stellar pitching by Víctor Hernández had a lot to do with it. The left-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Carolina has now lost 4 consecutive games.

The Nationals got a big at-bat from third baseman Jesús Pérez. For the game, Pérez was 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 32nd double of the season gave Potomac a 2-1 lead.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hernández.
