The Myrtle Beach Pelicans picked up a win at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, dropping the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 5-3. Willie Johnson, who is tied for 4th in the CAR in wins with 11, was the difference-maker. Johnson, now 11-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 7, and allowing 3 runs. Augusto Balderas earned his 10th save in 14 tries.

Myrtle Beach used a well-timed hit by Bob Fuller to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.

Myrtle Beach manager Jose Lobaton was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.

The Pelicans raised their record to 52-75.
