The Carolina Mudcats bested the Lynchburg Hillcats, 7-6, at Ed Smith Stadium. Joe Allison was one of the standouts. He went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2. The Mudcats have now won 4 straight.

It could have been a different outcome for Carolina, had it not been for Shawn Simmons, the 22-year old first baseman . Simmons contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Carolina up, 7-6.
