Pelicans Earn Win with Late Rally
Joe Frey did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Salem Red Sox an extra-inning, 4-3 loss to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Frey was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Myrtle Beach reliever Augusto Balderas snagged the win, upping his record to 6-5. Dan Gore shouldered the loss. The Myrtle Beach win streak is now 4 games.

Myrtle Beach used the timely hitting of Jeff Kilkenny to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Pelicans on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Kilkenny called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
