The Winston-Salem Dash managed to get by the Frederick Keys, 5-4, at Harry Grove Stadium. Winston-Salem pitcher Ron Stewart set himself apart with his performance. Stewart, the winner, moves to 6-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Picking up the save was Danny Álvarez. He's now 2 for 2 in save chances.

Steve Winters's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant for the Dash. Coming to the plate with a runner on 2nd and Winston-Salem leading 1-0, the Dash third baseman hit a 2-run home run.

"I was a little disappointed," said Frederick manager Walt Wilhelms. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

Winston-Salem is last in the Southern Division with a record of 50-60.
