Pelicans Send Salem Home with 4-1 Loss
|
Getting an impressive start from Willie Johnson, Myrtle Beach beat Salem by the score of 4-1. Johnson yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-5. Augusto Balderas earned save number 7 this season.
The Pelicans got a big at-bat from third baseman Arend Kooiman. For the game, Kooiman went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Myrtle Beach a 2-0 lead.
