The Potomac Nationals defeated the Frederick Keys, 4-2, in 10 innings in Carolina League action at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Potomac pitcher Ken Harris had a standout performance. Potomac reliever Michal Bauerewski picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeff O'Brian took the loss. With the win over Frederick, the Nationals improved to 49-56.

The decisive blow was delivered by Álex Rodríguez in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off fireballing right-hander Jeff O'Brian to win the game for Potomac. The home crowd went nuts.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Nationals manager Cesar Martin.
