Ken Harris, who is tied for 7th in the CAR in complete games with 1, never let the Red Sox get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Nationals to a win, 6-1. Potomac reliever Jim Matthews picked up the win, upping his record to 2-5. Mike Lane was saddled with the loss. Potomac now sits at 46-54, while Salem falls to 37-63.
Potomac used the timely hitting of Ken Barnes to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nationals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Harris.
