Steve McGuffie impressed in the 9-5 Potomac win over Lynchburg. McGuffie, who is tied for 8th in the CAR in doubles with 23, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. Potomac reliever Esteban Ojeda was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Ed Makarezos took the loss. Sean Wilson earned the save, his 1st in 1 tries.

Potomac grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when McGuffie hit a grand slam home run off Ed Makarezos. His 5th home run of the season put the Nationals out in front, 9-5.

"We played hard and won," said McGuffie. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

With this game in the books, Potomac is 42-53, Lynchburg 41-54.
