Rock Cats Tuck Away 7-3 Win Over Portland
The New Britain Rock Cats earned a win at New Britain Stadium, knocking off the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-3. On the bump for New Britain was left-hander Bob Walters. He had a starring role in the triumph. Walters, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. With the loss, Portland is 7-7.

The Sea Dogs had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Rock Cats going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop António López came to the plate. López hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 slider from Portland hurler Ed MacFadden. It was López's 1st double of the year.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Portland manager Stu Cole.
