|
Carolina beat Salem on the strength of starting pitcher Sergio Martínez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Martínez yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 11-5. Shawn Moore earned the save for Carolina, his 19th of the year.
Carolina used the timely hitting of Derek Humphrey to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mudcats on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
