The Salem Red Sox overcame a good performance by Potomac first baseman Willie Marshall to knock off Potomac, 2-1, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Marshall was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Bobby Louque snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Cisco Hernández suffered the loss. Gene Cross nailed down his 4th save.
Eric Thomas went 1-3 with a walk for Salem. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Don Jensen. It was his 34th walk of the season.
"I really like what we did out there today," Thomas said after the game.
Potomac now owns a losing streak of 6 games.
