Wilmington and Myrtle Beach duked it out and the Blue Rocks came out victorious.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks topped the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 8-5, in Carolina League action at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Wilmington pitcher Pete Mousset. Mousset got the win, improving to 2-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The save was credited to Steve Brown, his 5th.

The Pelicans had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Blue Rocks going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old first baseman Myron Grant came to the plate. Grant hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 fastball from Myrtle Beach hurler Dax Foster. It was Grant's 19th double of the year.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Wilmington manager Ozzie Timmons.

Wilmington has now won 6 straight.
