The inspired effort of Winston-Salem third baseman Dan Lindsey was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-3, to the Carolina Mudcats. Lindsey was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Carolina now has a record of 39-20 with the win.

Carolina used a timely hit from Joe Allison to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mudcats ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Winston-Salem manager Brent Metheny.
