Mudcats Get Dramatic 2-1 Win
Steve Preston, who is tied for 4th in the CAR in complete games with 1, was locked in. The right-hander led the Carolina Mudcats to a 2-1 win against the Potomac Nationals at Grainger Stadium. Preston, now 2-1, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Carolina is now 37-20, Potomac 26-32.

Carolina got a clutch hit from Ben Stevenson. The third baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Stevenson.
