Chad Abbasi pitched a gem to lead Potomac to victory over the Winston-Salem Dash, 2-1. Jim Matthews finished to wrap up his 7th save. Potomac is now 20-24, Winston-Salem 31-13.
Had Steve McGuffie not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, McGuffie hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Nationals.
"We won," said Abbasi. "But they made us earn it."
