Though the conditions were not ideal, the Carolina Mudcats and Myrtle Beach Pelicans came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Carolina Mudcats scooped up a win at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, dumping the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 5-0. Joe Byrd, who is tied for 2nd in the CAR in wins with 5, was essential to his team's success. Byrd picked up the win for Carolina, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-0.

It could have been a different outcome for Carolina, had it not been for Greg Reyes, the 23-year old shortstop . Reyes contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Carolina up, 1-0.

"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Jose Lobaton. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."

The win for the Mudcats lifted their record to 27-15.
