The Carolina Mudcats used the hitting of center fielder Beau Carson to subdue the Salem Red Sox, 7-5. For the game, Carson went 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Getting the save was Rudy Thomas, his 8th. Carolina now sits at 25-15, while Salem falls to 14-26.

Carson had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 sinker from Dan Gore, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Mudcats a 7-5 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Carson.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Carson told the Carolina Citizen. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
