The Lynchburg Hillcats got a stellar performance from pitcher Bert Riggs, who handcuffed the Winston-Salem offense en route to a win, 5-2, at New Winston-Salem Ballpark. Riggs, now 2-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Lynchburg pushed its record to 22-16.

Lynchburg used a well-timed hit by Danny Griffin to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hillcats ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Griffin.
