Harry Grove Stadium was the site for Carolina League action featuring the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Frederick Keys.

Cris González made an impact in the 10-2 Frederick win over Wilmington. González, who is tied for 7th in the CAR in total bases with 41, went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Bob Bedser picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-2. He struck out 8 in 6 innings. Ed Snow closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Jerry Horne had a big 3-run home run for the Keys in the bottom of the second inning. With Frederick leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Ben Tucker and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Keys on top, 5-1.

Wilmington manager Ozzie Timmons called the blowout loss "nothing to write home about."
