The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Winston-Salem Dash.

Winston-Salem pitcher Steve Winters had a large part in his team beating the Lynchburg Hillcats, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Mike Brown picked up the save, his 6th.

Winston-Salem center fielder Ben Daugherty contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Dash ahead, 2-0.

Winters attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."

Winston-Salem goes to 15-7 with the win.
