The Carolina Mudcats topped the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-3, in Carolina League action at Grainger Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Sergio Martínez. The win has Carolina at 8-7.

The Mudcats got a big hit from first baseman Chris Jones. Facing Winston-Salem pitcher Bud Walker in the bottom of the fifth, Jones pounded a 2-run double to right-center. His 3rd double of the season put the Mudcats ahead, 4-1.

Martínez said his team "played with determination."
