The Winston-Salem Dash got a sterling performance from pitcher Tim Brown, but the Myrtle Beach Pelicans still prevailed, 6-4. Brown threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. Randy Byrd snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Pat Poe suffered the loss. Bob Gibson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Myrtle Beach took a 4-3 lead on Mike Allen's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Allen hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Winston-Salem pitcher Pat Poe visibly frustrated.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Allen told the Myrtle Beach Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."

Myrtle Beach is now 6-7.
