Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Ben Stevenson the Carolina Mudcats defeated the Salem Red Sox, 6-2. The win went to José Ramírez in relief, making him now 1-0. Raúl Longoria took the loss for Salem. Josh Olsen collected save number 1.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Cris González? The 22-year old shortstop González stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Carolina up, 4-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
