Salem Red Sox starter Kevin Fitzpatrick was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Carolina Mudcats, 4-0. Bobby Louque, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The loss puts Carolina at 6-6.

Salem used a timely hit from Carlos Parkinson to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Kevin set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Salem manager Jose Nieves.
