Mudcats Thrill Fans with 7-4 Win
The Carolina Mudcats used the hitting of first baseman Shawn Simmons to subdue the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 7-4, in 11 innings. For the game, Simmons was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. The win puts Carolina at 6-5.

Carolina got a clutch hit from Rudy Swanson. The designated hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Swanson said in his postgame press conference.
