Mavericks Earn 9-6 Home Win
|
Charles Pigafetta had a good game, but he could not keep the Visalia Rawhide from falling, 9-6, to the High Desert Mavericks at Stater Bros. Stadium. The Visalia first baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once in the loss. High Desert pitcher Joe Holland got the win. He's now 2-1. Dave Wells was tagged with the loss. Tim Lewis closed the door for High Desert, picking up his 7th save of the year.
Jerry Franklin was 1 for 3 with a walk, while scoring 2 for High Desert. The 26-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bobby Wagner. It was his 37th RBI of the season.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Franklin.
The Mavericks raised their record to 59-70.
