JetHawks Win by Slim Margin, 8-7
The Lancaster JetHawks withstood an impressive performance by San Jose center fielder Jorge Díaz to defeat the Giants, 8-7, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Díaz went 5 for 7 with a home run and 4 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Lancaster reliever Timon Skouloudis picked up the win, raising his record to 8-2. Hal Powell was tagged with the loss. Lancaster leads the South Division by 18½ games.

The JetHawks beat the Giants in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Charlie Gaston produced in the top of the 12th. Batting against Hal Powell, Gaston gave his team the lead, 8-7, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Lancaster manager George Lombard was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
