The Visalia Rawhide faced a tough opponent in San Jose pitcher Jimmy Hoover, but did just enough to pull out the victory at San Jose Municipal Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Hoover went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner in relief was Ed Norton. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Dave Hensley nailed down his 21st save.
