The home crowd had a good time watching the Visalia Rawhide and San Jose Giants get after it.

The San Jose Giants picked up a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium, dropping the Visalia Rawhide, 8-5. Dan Groves, who is tied for 7th in the CAL with a 3.47 ERA, was the difference-maker. Groves got the win, improving to 9-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Hal Powell earned his 28th save in 32 chances.

Jorge Díaz hit a 2-run triple off Dave Wells in the bottom of the third, which put the Giants in front, 2-0. Díaz had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.

"Dan kept his poise and got the job done," said San Jose manager Steve Liddle. "He was outstanding."

San Jose is now 64-48, Visalia 50-62.
