Giants Win at Bakersfield, 4-2
|
San Jose picked up a win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark, bumping off the Bakersfield Blaze, 4-2. Pitcher Luis Ortíz was a major reason the Giants emerged victorious. Ortíz got the win, improving to 4-5. He gave up 3 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The Giants bumped their record to 61-45 with this latest triumph.
San Jose won the game in part because of Ed Keller. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 4-1. For the game, Keller had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Every time I step on the mound, I want to go out there and compete and bring my best game," said Ortíz.
