Stockton left fielder Nick Jourdain played a vital role in his team's 7-6 conquest of Bakersfield. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Stockton. Juan Sánchez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 3-3. Mike Hutchinson earned save number 10.

Jourdain had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 slider from Ken Day, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Ports a 6-5 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Jourdain.

"I put some good swings on the ball," said Jourdain.

Stockton occupies last place in the North Division at 41-60.
