High Desert Gets 6-2 Win
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Jonathan Walters, the San Jose Giants lost to the High Desert Mavericks, 6-2. Walters went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tim Lewis notched his 1st save of the season. The 4th-place Mavericks have a record of 45-54.

High Desert used a well-timed hit by Joe Elliott to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Elliott. "You've got to get results."
