The Modesto Nuts besoiled an otherwise fine performance by San Jose third baseman Jesús Olivas by beating the Giants, 4-3, at John Thurman Field. Olivas was 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Killian Freake earned his 2nd save in 2 chances. The win puts Modesto at 38-59.

Joe Miller had a big solo home run for the Nuts in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Modesto leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Eric Farrell and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Nuts on top, 4-2.

Miller called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
