The Bakersfield Blaze picked up a win at Recreation Park, courtesy of Ken Day. The right-hander helped his team stop the Visalia Rawhide, 2-1. Day yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-0. With the win over Visalia, the Blaze improved to 53-43.

Had Bill McKee not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McKee hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Blaze.

"We did just enough to win," McKee said.
