The San Jose Giants finished off the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 13-2. Much of the credit belonged to right fielder Edmund Richards. Richards was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Giants. Mike Thompson went 5.2 innings for San Jose to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record improves to 8-3. Earning the save was Joe Campbell. San Jose used a well-timed hit by Jorge Díaz to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Giants ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 6 at-bats, it was important.

"They just got us," said Rancho Cucamonga manager Matt Holliday, "and that's all I can say."

The first-place Giants hiked their record to 51-40.
