Bakersfield Blaze starter Mike Kirby worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Modesto Nuts, 12-0. Now 53-35, the Blaze have won 11 games in a row.

Juan Núñez had a big bases-clearing triple for the Blaze in the top of the second inning. With Bakersfield leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Cristóbal Mercado and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blaze ahead, 4-0.

"Mike is good at sticking to his strengths," said Bakersfield manager Joe McEwing.
