Taylor Excels, But Blaze Win
Jim Taylor did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Inland Empire 66ers from being beaten, 12-9, to the Bakersfield Blaze at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Taylor belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Chad Payling got credit for the save for Bakersfield. It was his 21st of the year. The win makes Bakersfield 47-39.

Bakersfield catcher Adryão Gramacho contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 43rd hit of the season and put the Blaze ahead, 5-2.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Gramacho told the Bakersfield Gazette.
