|
In a low-scoring contest between the Modesto Nuts and the Inland Empire 66ers, Mike Sanford was the X factor. The Modesto right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Modesto pitcher Orlando Rodríguez got the win. He's now 2-1. Mike Taylor was tagged with the loss. Jimmy Miller, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Chet Fleming came through with a big-time hit for Modesto. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Sanford said.
At 34-48, the Nuts find themselves in 4th place in the North Division.
