The Lancaster JetHawks besoiled an otherwise fine performance by High Desert right fielder Joe Elliott by beating the Mavericks, 8-7, at The Hanger. Elliott was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Lancaster pitcher Otton van Rey got the win, upping his record to 2-4. Chris Martin got the loss. Lancaster improves to 51-27 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.

Ted Smith was the walk-off hero for Lancaster. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the JetHawks left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Smith said.
