Mavericks Suffer 3-1 Home Defeat

The Lancaster JetHawks picked up a win at Stater Bros. Stadium, taking down the High Desert Mavericks, 3-1. Starting pitcher Stu Hewer was a big reason why. Hewer picked up the win for Lancaster, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 5-4. Julián Castaneda was credited with the save for Lancaster, his 9th of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve Peterson? The Lancaster shortstop had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put the JetHawks on top, 2-0. For the game, Peterson had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
